Campus Visits
DI - In-person on campus recruiting has been restricted due to the Coronavirus until January 1, 2021.
DII/DIII - In-person on campus recruiting is permitted at this time but can vary by school and state.
Official Visits
Official visits can be taken after August 1st of your junior year in high school. An official visit is when the program pays for anything during a visit to campus. You are permitted 5 of these visits and must go through the NCAA and file paperwork before and after the visit.
Unofficial Visits
Unofficial visits also can be taken after August 1st of your junior year in high school. An unofficial visit is when you visit a campus or program and meet with the staff or program and they do not pay for anything during the visit. You are permitted an unlimited amount of these visits. You are permitted to visit college campuses before August 1st and tour around but you are not permitted to meet with the coaches staff or be involved in the program’s activities.
Visit Do’s:
Come prepared with more good questions (ask soccer questions first, school second)
Want to meet with a player or someone on the team to ask about the program or work/study/life balance
Communicate well both before and after the visit to make coaches lives easier and help your visit go more smoothly.
Be respectful of the places you are and peoples time
Hold doors for coaches
Give coaches clues that you are a good person and fit for the culture of the program and an extension of them as a coach
Say thank you a lot
Visit Do Not’s:
Do not wear another universities or soccer programs gear (hats, shirts, sweats, sweatshirts)
Not not dress in inappropriate attire
Parents should be dressed as if they are being evaluated too (because you are)
Ask about the social/party life
Brag or talk yourself up/put others down
